Forest Gardening at CAT

The CAT forest garden demonstrates a low maintenance food growing system, mostly made up of perennial plants. A forest garden has the same structure as our native deciduous woodland, however all the plants are edible, or useful in some way.

The garden was planted in 2009/10, by CAT’s display gardener Chloe Ward. Chloe has experimented with forest gardening over the past 15 years and has used this experience in designing the current garden.
